background

Agricooltur® was born from the synergy between different expertises: agronomy, technology, and research. Since 2018, it has been designing and developing systems for soilless cultivation using patented technology.

vision

To contribute through soilless cultivation technologies to innovating the agricultural sector in terms of sustainability and healthiness.

mission

To design, industrialize, build, and distribute soilless cultivation systems that are simple to install and use, efficient, and enable our client-partners to offer healthy, flavorful products with a low environmental impact and returns in terms of economy, image, and reputation.

milestones

2018

Birth of the start-up

Agricooltur® was born from the meeting of different skills: agronomy, engineering, and entrepreneurial vision.
The founding partners combined technical know-how and a passion for sustainability, giving life to a project that takes agriculture out of the fields and into urban spaces.

2019

The first production hub

The first soilless cultivation hub was launched in Carignano (TO). It is the laboratory where innovative systems are tested and the production of “zero-centimeter” salads and aromatic herbs begins.

2020

Aerosmart Patent

Aerosmart is Agricooltur’s automated technological system consisting of growth tanks containing the hydraulic circuit which, thanks to capillary-positioned nebulizers, provides the plant roots with the necessary water and nutrients. The patent created by Agricooltur is not limited to keeping plants alive during the growth phase: the supply chain follows the product from the pod to the sales display, and the products remain alive, thanks to intact roots, until the moment of consumption.

2021

New growth stages

The Aeromatic patent was filed and the CityLife Hub in Milan was inaugurated, an iconic installation that brings aeroponic cultivation to one of Italy’s most innovative districts.
In the same year, the Osasio production plant was established and three educational hubs for CIOFS were opened in Nizza, Tortona, and Casale Monferrato.

2021

genoa

In Genoa, during the reconstruction of the Morandi Bridge, Agricooltur brought 0-cm agriculture with two urban greenhouses (Plant 240 at the Radura della Memoria and Hortus at the Porto Antico), cultivating without soil using aeroponic technology.

2022

Hortus Patent

The Hortus patent was born, a transportable urban cultivation module created by reusing appropriately modified end-of-life containers.

2022

Capital increase

Agricooltur® welcomed the entry of the Alkemia fund, which brought a significant capital contribution and new industrial growth perspectives.

2023

go to market

Among the completed projects, the one with Lavazza stands out: aeroponic systems brought directly inside the Bistrot Casa Lavazza in Turin, for a sustainable dining experience.

2024

production plant expansion

Renovation begins on a former industrial area of 5,000m² for the design and construction of Agricooltur® systems.

2025

strategic projects

Two flagship projects were put into operation: the aeroponic greenhouse for Eni, dedicated to corporate welfare, and the Ortindoor plant, marking a further step towards the spread of sustainable Agricooltur® systems.

2026

new green hub

The Green Hub in Osasio (TO) is a new production hub under construction with 10 lines and a full-capacity of approximately 1.1–1.2 million pieces/year, primarily serving GDO and Ho.Re.Ca.
The site managed by Urbancooltur will cover the entire supply chain (sowing→delivery) and will also serve as a demonstration plant for Agricooltur® customers.

the cultivation

SOILLESS

With soilless cultivation, plants are grown in a controlled environment that almost entirely reduces the spread of pests and diseases typical of soil cultivation, eliminating the use of insecticides and pesticides, which are harmful to human health, plants, and the environment.

The roots receive water and nutrients through a specially designed nebulization system. This technology allows plants to absorb nutrients more efficiently, promoting faster growth and a higher yield.

environmental commitment

a sustainable choice

Less water
Water is misted onto the plant roots and the excess is recovered, collected, and recirculated. Even condensation water from the greenhouse is reused for nebulization, minimizing waste.

Less fertilizers
The absence of soil and the closed water cycle in the soilless cultivation system allow the plant to be provided with only the nutrients necessary for healthy and constant development, avoiding dispersion.

Greater production efficiency
The automated control system for production cycles allows for an increase in the quality and quantity of harvests, ensuring superior and constant productivity over time.

the contribution to

2030 SDGs

Agricooltur® aims to contribute to the achievement of the “Sustainable Development Goals of the UN 2030 Agenda”

Thanks to its systems, it is now possible to make a choice for sustainability that impacts the present for a better future.
