Intro
Agricooltur® inaugurates a new Hortus Dome in Torre San Giorgio (CN), at the Emporio di Mangimi Monge, bringing zero-centimeter aeroponic cultivation to the heart of the Cuneo area. A collaboration that combines sustainability, agricultural education, and product quality.
need
Emporio Monge wanted to enhance an outdoor space in a sustainable and innovative way, offering customers fresh, local vegetables grown directly on-site. The project also aimed to spread the culture of aeroponics in a rural context, making a high-tech yet easy-to-manage cultivation system visible and accessible.
solution
To meet these needs, Agricooltur® installed an Hortus Dome, one of the most compact systems in the Hortus outdoor line. The module is:
- Created from an end-of-life container, repurposed to house a complete aeroponic greenhouse;
- Energy self-sufficient, thanks to the photovoltaic panels installed on the roof;
- Equipped with a water recovery system for condensation irrigation, minimizing waste;
- Designed to grow microgreens, salads, basil and other leafy vegetables, all sold with roots intact to ensure freshness and shelf life.
The system represents a versatile solution, suitable for commercial, agricultural, and educational contexts.
results
The initiative has had a tangible impact on the local area:
- Emporio customers can purchase fresh products grown on-site, with a zero-mile supply chain and no pesticides;
- The installation has sparked curiosity and interest in aeroponics, also attracting new potential growers to this technology;
- Today, Emporio Monge is positioned as a local benchmark for sustainable innovation, combining sales, training, and agriculture.
A replicable project that demonstrates how even small commercial businesses can become protagonists of the ecological transition.
