Agricooltur x Mangimi Monge: Sustainable innovation in Torre San Giorgio
On October 5, we inaugurated our Hortus Dome system at the Mangimi Monge headquarters in Torre San Giorgio, marking another significant step in bringing aeroponic cultivation to the Piedmont region. This collaboration offers more people the opportunity to learn about and experience firsthand an innovative method of sustainable cultivation.
Founded in 1975, Mangimi Monge is a family business with a long tradition in animal feed production, characterized by personalized recipes that have built solid, long-lasting relationships with customers. In 2019, the company opened Emporio Monge, enhancing the retail sale of its products alongside its established business of poultry raised directly on their farm. Today, now in its fourth generation, Mangimi Monge continues to grow and innovate, diversifying its business.
Always future-oriented, the Monge family chose the Hortus Dome system by Agricooltur to grow vegetables, microgreens, salads, and basil sustainably and with a zero-mile approach, offering them to customers with the roots still intact to ensure maximum freshness.
The Hortus Dome is one of the most compact outdoor systems in Agricooltur’s Hortus line. It is a repurposed end-of-life container adapted for cultivation, powered by photovoltaic panels that make it energy self-sufficient. The system is also a small example of a circular economy, as the water from the air conditioner is fully reused to irrigate the crops.
